Division of Bambusa Eutuldoides Viridi-vittata (5 gallon pot) Roy Rogers pulls back the dirt to expose rhizomes. A water hose is used to clearly show the rhizome.

You can see three rhizomes in the photo. The key here is to identify the neck and the connecting point to the mother while being careful not to disturb the roots as much as possible.

This pictures shows how roots are exposed by hosing off dirt with water. This shows how the rhizome neck attaches to the mother plant. The idea is to keep the roots in good condition.

A fine blade saw was used to gently cut the rhizome neck from the mother plant.
