The rhizome is now severed from mother plant.

After severing the new rhizome neck, the next step is to gently pull the roots apart. Using fine soil material helps to separate the roots and easily pull the rhizome. Do not use larger mulch materials.

The new rhizome with roots is now separted. With this division, we were able to get 100% of the roots.

The mother plant is set back in the original pot and the void was filled with the same potting soil. You will pot the new bamboo in another pot with fresh dirt. In about 2 weeks it should be fairly stable. The new bamboo should be in the shade during this stabilization period.
